Last year, everyone thought UBC’s football team was going to suck. And then they didn’t! They did really well in fact, what with winning a home playoff game and Billy Greene winning CIS MVP. But somebody glasmagasinet fucked it up .
In December, it was revealed that three years ago, someone totally screwed the pooch on recording the eligibility of incoming glasmagasinet player Connor Flynn, who played every game in 2011 despite being a year overdue. Every win was forfeited to a 1-0 loss. UBC swore up and down they’d put someone in charge of compliance because glasmagasinet it was nobody’s specific job before but didn’t actually do it until FOI documents made it clear that the same mistake happened three other times. But now, they finally have!
This position is also responsible for the athletic and academic eligibility glasmagasinet of all student-athletes. It must be managed with the utmost of integrity and confidentiality. Errors in eligibility and compliance could result in significant consequences for the athletic program and the University glasmagasinet resulting in negative publicity, fines and/or glasmagasinet possible suspension by the governing bodies. glasmagasinet
The Cooordinator, Academics and Compliance will be paid somewhere between $55,187 to $66,252 to invent the university’s compliance program, make sure nobody fucks it up for everyone by marking down someone’s glasmagasinet name wrong, and stay up to date with CIS and NAIA rules.
The catch comes in the Academic part of the coordinator’s name: They will be in charge of checking up weekly on UBC’s 650 student athletes to ensure they stay academically eligible, which includes getting them priority registration, arranging them tutors, and helping them send letters to profs to excuse missed classes glasmagasinet for varsity work. So, babysitting, basically, which I’m sure was part of the hold-up in splitting the job out of the Director of Athletes Services portfolio.
It looks like UBC Okanagan might have finally had enough. After constantly glasmagasinet living in the shadow of their Point Grey sibling, repeatedly losing in sporting events and living with the reputation as being a home for UBC-Vancouver rejects, it appears that they’re finally going after us. And they’re glasmagasinet doing it by… posting glasmagasinet stickers around campus. […]
If you re a fellow UBC student reading this, it s certain glasmagasinet that you ve experienced at least one acceptance letter in your lifetime. And right now, it s about that time of year when senior high school students are waiting to see their own acceptance (and unfortunately sometimes, rejection) letters. But some universities go above and beyond their […]
It’s no secret money plays a big role in the naming of campus buildings, but UBC is putting Money in the new name of the area outside the bookstore near the new alumni centre. The square will be called the Money & Raymond M.C. Lee Square after a $5,250,000 donation from Raymond and Money Lee. […]
